Can B Complex be given to children?Updated 2 months ago

Short answer

Metabolics is unable to advise on giving the standard B Complex products to children because of the higher vitamin B12 content and the need to individualise dosing. Any use and dosage for a child must be assessed and recommended by their own practitioner, based on the child’s age, health status and nutritional needs.

Standard B Complex and children

  • Metabolics B Complex Liquid and B Complex Capsules are formulated as high-strength adult products, including higher levels of vitamin B12.

  • For safety, individual variability and regulatory reasons, Metabolics does not provide paediatric dosing guidance for these adult B Complex formulas and cannot confirm suitability for a specific child; this must always be determined by the child’s own healthcare practitioner.

Approved wording for tickets (adult B Complex):

“Our B Complex formulas are designed for adults and include a higher level of vitamin B12. Because every child’s needs are different, we are not able to advise on giving this product to children or suggest a dose. For advice that is safe and appropriate for your child, please speak with your own healthcare practitioner, who can assess their age, health and individual requirements.”

Children’s B Complex Liquid status

  • Metabolics Children’s B Complex Liquid is currently discontinued and is not available to order.

  • The decision not to continue with this liquid at present is due to some issues identified with long‑term stability, as part of Metabolics’ quality and safety standards.

Approved wording for tickets (liquid discontinued):

“Metabolics Children’s B Complex Liquid has been discontinued and is no longer available. During our quality reviews we identified some slight issues with long‑term stability, so we have chosen not to produce this version at the moment in order to maintain our usual high standards.”

If a customer asks about existing bottles they already hold, agents should reiterate that any decision to use the product in a child, and at what dose, must be made with their own practitioner.

Planned Children’s B Complex capsules

  • Metabolics intends to introduce a Children’s B Complex in capsule form, with B vitamin levels designed to be similar to the former Children’s B Complex Liquid but carried in a cellulose capsule.

  • The capsules are planned to be small and can be swallowed whole or opened and the contents sprinkled into food or drink, allowing flexible administration for children who struggle with swallowing capsules.

Approved wording for tickets (future capsules):

“We are planning to launch a Metabolics Children’s B Complex in capsule form. This will contain similar levels of the B vitamins used in our previous Children’s B Complex Liquid, but in a cellulose capsule that can either be swallowed or opened and mixed with food or drink. Unfortunately, there is no confirmed launch date yet, but this is planned for this year, subject to final manufacturing and quality checks.”

Agents must avoid giving any implied dosing guidance (e.g. number of capsules) for children; customers should always be directed back to their practitioner.

Future liquid children’s B Complex

  • Metabolics expects to revisit the possibility of a Children’s B Complex Liquid in the future once a formulation that meets long‑term stability and quality requirements is confirmed.

  • There is currently no confirmed timeline for a new children’s liquid; customers can be reassured that any new product will only be released once all quality and stability criteria are met.

Approved wording:

“At some point in the future, we do intend to revisit a Children’s B Complex Liquid, but there is no confirmed date yet. Any new liquid will only be launched once we are fully satisfied with its long‑term stability and quality.”

Guidance for agents in Gorgias

When a customer asks about giving B Complex to a child, agents should:

    • Acknowledge the query and show understanding of their concern.

    • Use the “adult B Complex and children” approved wording above.

    • If they mention the old Children’s B Complex Liquid, use the “liquid discontinued” wording.

    • Optionally add the “future capsules” wording to explain what is planned.

    • Signpost to the customer’s own practitioner for all decisions on suitability and dose.

    • Offer contact routes if they want to discuss product composition (not dosing advice).
