Does "one drop" mean one literal drop or one full dropper?Updated 2 months ago

When the dosage instructions state "one drop" or "10 drops", this means individual drops, not a full dropper.

This is a common question, and it's important to clarify because a full dropper typically contains approximately 20 drops (around 1ml of liquid). Taking a full dropper when the label states "1 drop" would mean taking 20 times the recommended dose.

How to Measure Individual Drops

Step-by-step:

  1. Draw the liquid: Squeeze the dropper bulb and submerge the tip in the liquid, then release the bulb to draw liquid into the pipette

  2. Hold upright: Keep the bottle upright and position the dropper tip over a glass of water or your mouth

  3. Dispense drops: Gently squeeze the bulb to release individual drops from the tip

  4. Count carefully: Count each drop as it falls until you reach the exact number stated on the product label (e.g., 1 drop, 10 drops)

Important: Do NOT squeeze the bulb fully to release a whole dropper's worth—this would be approximately 20 drops.

Why Are Metabolics Liquid Doses So Small?

Metabolics liquid supplements are highly concentrated and bioavailable, which is why dosages are measured in individual drops rather than full droppers.

For example:

  • Vitamin B12 (Methylcobalamin): Just 1 drop provides 86.5µg of active B12, which is 3,460% of the Nutrient Reference Value (NRV)

  • Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxal-5-Phosphate): Just 1 drop provides the active form of B6 for immediate use by the body

  • Liquid Zinc: 10 drops provide 4.0mg of zinc, which is 40% NRV

Because these products use ionic or active forms of nutrients, your body can absorb and utilise them very efficiently, allowing for smaller, more precise doses.

How to Take Your Drops

Best practice:

  • Add your measured drops to a small glass of water (approximately 100-200ml) and drink

  • Alternatively, mix with food as stated on the product page

  • Take with food unless otherwise directed

This makes administration easy, ensures accurate dosing, and improves palatability.

Can I Adjust My Dosage?

The stated recommended dose on each product page is the standard daily dose. However, the dose can be changed as directed by your healthcare practitioner.

Our liquid format allows for flexible, precise dosing to meet individual needs, particularly for practitioners who may wish to tailor intake based on specific health requirements.

Important: Do not exceed the stated dose unless advised by your healthcare practitioner.

What If I've Been Taking Too Much?

If you've been taking a full dropper when the dosage states only a few drops, you may have been taking significantly more than the recommended amount.

We recommend:

  • Stop taking the supplement temporarily

  • Consult your healthcare practitioner or GP for guidance

  • Do not assume overdose symptoms—seek professional advice

While Metabolics products are generally well-tolerated and manufactured to the highest GMP standards, they are highly concentrated and designed for precise dosing.
